Mineral Exploration
In-Situ Salt Mining
This study was done in California to delineate a salt bed for mining. In this study, the lack of seismoelectric response and low electric field response between 360 and 260 meters above sea level is interpreted to be a salt bed. A comparison between the interpreted salt formations and well log data shows high levels of correlation.
Quartzite Mapping
This project was conducted to delineate a known gold bearing quartz structure. Resistivity data collected of the quart structure is shown above. SE Response gradient data was used to delineate the structure and shows good correlation to the resistivity data.
Uranium Critical Lensing
This project was conducted to delineate lensing of uranium, transported from the hills to the North-West of the site to the lower areas in the South-East, through underlying aquifer systems. The data clearly shows three lens structures that are to be mined for uranium.
Underground Coal Gasification
This project was conducted to delineate the shape and position of a UCG project in Australia. Formation temperature was used to delineate the UCG chamber cavity. The data indicated that the cavity had formed as modeled. The extent of the thermal ingress into the surrounding formation is also shown.
UCG Cavity Mapping
This project was conducted to delineate the shape and position of a UCG project in New Zealand. Formation temperature was used to delineate the UCG chamber cavity. The data indicated that the cavity had burnt along the feed lines and had not formed as expected.
Coal Bed Mapping
The electric field data shown here clearly defines the Latrobe formation, with clear indications of the two coal seam horizons within it.
Oil Exploration
An analysis of the site oil indicator data shows unusually localized oil indicators situated around Well 3, mostly within the Latrobe coal seams, but also extending down to a depth of 3,000 meters below surface level. As Well 3 is the only well on the site that showed oil signs at a depth of 2,100 meters below surface level, there does appear to be a basis for interpreting a localized oil reservoir around Well 3.
